Ready for collaboration

Built to support credible institutional collaboration.

Snakebite risk remains a serious public concern in many parts of Bangladesh, especially where people live and work close to fields, wetlands, forests, and rural landscapes. Fear, misinformation, harmful first-aid practices, and delayed medical care can make the situation worse.

DESCF’s Snakebite Awareness and Prevention programme focuses on calm, practical, and community-friendly awareness. The programme promotes safer behaviour, harmful myth reduction, and responsible public messaging so that people can respond more carefully during snakebite-related incidents.

The programme does not encourage snake handling or risky rescue behaviour by the public. Instead, it supports prevention, safe distance, timely medical care, and better understanding of snakes as part of the local ecosystem.

Through awareness sessions, educational materials, community communication, and youth engagement, DESCF aims to reduce panic and strengthen safer coexistence between people and snakes.
